I’ve recently rediscovered die cutting using my Big Kick and Cuttlebug. Usually I use my Silhouette Cameo for die cuts, but sometimes it’s nice to quickly cut a shape without having to pull out my computer and the large cutting mats that you need for the Cameo. You can also emboss your shapes to add extra dimension to your projects. Don’t get me wrong, though, I still LOVE my Silhouette Cameo! After searching all over online to figure out the best way to easily store some of my Sizzix and Spellbinders wafer thin dies, I finally came up with this fast and inexpensive solution. I had picked up a couple of picture frames for $6.99 at Marshalls and decided to test out the magnetic cartridge for my xyron.
To make this storage solution all you need is 1) a picture frame 2) a way of cutting magnet sheet and 3) magnet sheet. I used my xyron magnet cartridge and simply ran a piece of card stock through the machine. After that I cut it to size and put it in the frame. Voila! Easy! I have also seen people use magnetic vent covers or other types of magnets to store their dies but I figured since I already had the xyron magnet cartridge I would just use that. If you are looking for a good storage solution for wafer thin dies, I would definitely recommend this fun and fast project.
