The inspiration for this project was the idea for a leafy Grecian Headband. I didn’t have any extra headbands lying around so for now it is more like a leafy Grecian random decoration… Eventually it will be added onto a headband. The leathers for this project were small swatches found at FabMo. I especially like the embossed alligator-like leather. I used my Sizzix Big Kick Once again to cut out the shapes and actually used a couple of different Sizzix dies, including “Leaves” and “Flower Layers #2”. I used hot glue to attach the pieces to each other, but if anyone has other good ideas for gluing leather together, please let me know!
I wanted something with earthtones so I found these two leather samples in my little stash:
After playing around with some different leaf combinations on my Die-Cutting machine I started to lay out the pattern:
And then I ended up with the final product:
I began to realize that it is a lot of fun to mix and match different shapes from different Sizzix dies, so if you have a few lying around, see what kinds of cool combinations that you can come up with!
i have been trying to cut some thin leather in my sizzix big kick but they never come out! how did you use yours to get those shapes? I’m using very thin leather, and a slight cut shows up, but not all the way through. i’d LOVE to be able to make different shapes.
thanks for any help!

Hi Jackie!
Sorry about the late reply. When cutting leather I have to make sure to use the “Bigz” dies or “originals”. If you use the “sizzlits” it usually doesn’t work well. Hopefully that helps… I haven’t had any problems cutting thin leather with those styles of dies. The wafer thin dies don’t really work. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)
